Bonny
I
always told my children that if they wrote down their wishes on a
tiny piece of paper and put it on a naked flame, the wishes would fly
up to the universe to be processed. This is exactly what they did at
our barbeque a week before we were given Bonny as a present but the
weird thing about it was, I didn’t even know what they had written
on that piece of paper.
A
secret wish
A
Secret wish upon a flame
Back
then you had a different name
I
saw you that September night
Knew
you’d be ours and I was right
You
soiled the carpets, chewed the shelf
Could
not be left all by yourself
But
big brown puppy eyes would win
Our
hearts and all the love within
From
cheeky, chewy naughty pup
With
the children you grew up
To
be protective, loyal and calm
With
guests you would turn on the charm
A
big part of us you became
That
secret wish upon a flame
Given
to us as a gift
Bonny
you’ll be sadly missed.
